The Wessobrunn Prayer is an early ninth-century parchment miscellany produced in the Diocese of Augsburg and now preserved in Munich. Mostly written in Latin, it contains more than seventy texts alongside the celebrated Old High German creation poem and prayer from which the manuscript takes its modern name. Its opening Legend of the True Cross is accompanied by eighteen half-page pen drawings, forming the earliest known surviving pictorial cycle devoted to Constantine and Saint Helena. The manuscript is an important witness to Carolingian book culture and early German literature.
