The Sloane Medical Collection is a luxuriously illustrated manuscript produced in France, probably Amiens, at the beginning of the fourteenth century. The book is a compilation of scientific and medical texts, including Rogerro Frugardo's Chirurgia and the Circa instans by Matthaeus Platearius. The twenty full-page and five smaller miniatures are painted in saturated pigments, primarily red and blue, with details in gold. The images are principally on medical subjects, including surgeries and illness symptoms, but some Christian narrative scenes are also present.
