The Passion of Christ is a German devotional printed book produced by Anton Sorg in Augsburg on November 18, 1480. It contains Heinrich von St. Gallen's widely circulated Passionstraktat in an expanded form that follows Christ's Passion through the Resurrection and Ascension, followed by three prayers. Its visual program comprises twenty-eight full-page woodcuts printed from twenty-seven blocks. The sequence was influential: its woodcuts served as models for many later printed editions of the text, making the book an important witness to the interaction of late medieval devotional literature and early illustrated printing.
