The Mayer van den Bergh Breviary is a Christian liturgical manuscript made in Flanders, in Ghent or Bruges, around 1500 by a workshop of at least twelve illuminators. This talented group of artists accomplished twenty-nine full-page, seven half-page, and twenty small miniatures along with nine historiated borders and twelve calendar pages with bas-de-page miniatures and additional scenes set into architectural borders. The manuscript's text was written in two campaigns: the first potentially for an Italian patron; the second for a Portuguese patron, possibly Manuel I, King of Portugal.
