The Jupiter Symphony K. 551 is the autograph score of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's longest and last symphony. The symphony, for flute, oboes, bassoons, horns, trumpets, timpani, and strings, was composed, and the score written, in Vienna in August of 1788, just two months after the death of his infant daughter Theresia. It is famous for the expressiveness of its second movement and its intricate fugal finale. The symphony's nickname, "Jupiter," unknown to Mozart himself, is widely believed to have been coined by Johann Peter Salomon.
