The Hours of Ferdinand the Catholic is a richly illuminated devotional manuscript made in Italy in the early sixteenth century for Ferdinand II of Aragon. Long misidentified as belonging to Ferrante I of Naples, the manuscript has been reassigned by modern scholarship to the Catholic King and associated with Pedro Machuca during his Italian period. Its decoration includes eighty-one miniatures together with elaborate borders and initials, reflecting the courtly Renaissance illumination cultivated between Naples and Rome.
