The Astronomical Anthology for Wenceslas IV is a luxuriously decorated manuscript produced in Prague after 1400 for the Bohemian king Wenceslas IV. The book's texts and seven highly detailed diagrams reflect the courtly interest in astrology at the end of the Middle Ages. Its fifty-five miniatures are expertly painted in the Prague "beautiful style" in a wide range of colors and illuminated with gold. Interestingly, the anthology's text columns are not arranged parallel to the gutter of the manuscript; instead, the book must be turned 90 degrees to read its contents and view its images.
