Alchemical Didactic Poem is a German alchemical manuscript dated 1556 and attributed to the enigmatic author known as Lambspring. Its fifteen allegorical poems explore the production and transformative meaning of the philosopher's stone, each introduced by a circular emblem painted in watercolor and framed with foliate ornament. The sequence gives unusual prominence to the images, which precede rather than face their corresponding verses. Preserved in Zürich as Ms P 2177, it is the earliest surviving manuscript witness currently identified for the illustrated Lambspring tradition.
