Yet, it\u2019s hard to ignore how much has changed in recent years: the fair has shrunk dramatically, and the once-thriving facsimile section has taken a severe hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can you imagine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just five traditional publishers held their ground this time around, relegated to a makeshift area typically reserved for art books, now sandwiched among a mishmash of other genres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given these circumstances, I set off for Frankfurt with low morale and few expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Early Birds Get the Worms: Leaving 7 hours before the first meeting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our adventure began at 2:00 AM<\/strong> when I met my colleague Giacomo Cecchetti from Pazzini Stampatore, a printing press specializing in art books and facsimiles. Together, we set off on our journey: a drive to Bologna for a direct flight that whisked us to Frankfurt by 8 AM. After navigating the metro, we arrived at the fair, <strong>just in time for our first appointment at 9:00 AM.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meet Universal Art Group: the hat for Faksimile Verlag, Verlag M\u00fcller&amp;Schindler, and Eikon Editores, and much more!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We kicked off our day by meeting <strong>Charlotte Kramer, Javier Zalve, and Alexander Wilhelm<\/strong>. Charlotte, along with her husband Javier Zalve and with the cooperation of publishing expert Alexander Wilhelm, leads a holding company dedicated to art, and they recently formed a new group called <strong>Universal Art Group<\/strong>. href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/facsimiles\/paris-epistle-othea-facsimile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Letter of Othea by Christine de Pizan<\/a> (BnF, Ms. 606), a manuscript handled by <strong>Christine de Pizan<\/strong> herself;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/facsimiles\/cocharelli-codex-facsimile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Codex Cocharelli<\/a>, a 14th-century manuscript created in Genoa. It contains a fascinating mix of moral treatises and illustrated scenes that are simply stunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. The exquisite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/facsimiles\/hours-engelbert-nassau-facsimile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hours of Engelbert of Nassau<\/a>, a Publishers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My role transcends the simple act of selling facsimiles; <strong>I also serve as a consultant for the production of new facsimiles<\/strong>. Giacomo and I have had the privilege of collaborating on noteworthy projects, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/facsimiles\/psalter-blanche-castile-facsimile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Psalter of Blanche of Castile<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/facsimiles\/ulugh-beg-book-constellations-facsimile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ulugh Beg&#8217;s Book of the Constellations<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most recently, we tackled the ambitious project of producing Christine de Pizan\u2019s Letters of Othea, which was prominently showcased at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/search\/publisher\/21-Mueller-Schindler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M\u00fcller &amp; Schindler<\/a> booth during the fair. <strong>What an honor!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Collaborations on the Horizon: Belser Verlag<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After wrapping up with Charlotte, we headed over to the Kosmos stand, home to renowned publisher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/search\/publisher\/56-Belser-Verlag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Belser Verlag<\/a>. There, we caught up with <strong>Bernhard Kolb and our friend Armin Sinnwell<\/strong>, an ex-director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facsimilefinder.com\/search\/publisher\/14-Faksimile-Verlag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Faksimile Verlag<\/a>. Bernhard walked us through their available editions for the international market, including a stunning edition of a <strong>manuscript from the Vatican&#8217;s Greek collection<\/strong>. It was a pleasure to reconnect and hear their news: CM has recently acquired the inventory of the historic Spanish publisher <a Gunter has extensive experience in the field and presented <strong>a new project from the Beinecke Library at Yale<\/strong>, which we cannot announce just yet.
