The Vita Kiliani<\/strong>, containing the Passio Kiliani et Margaretae<\/strong> is a unique example in the field of early medieval illuminated manuscripts<\/strong> from 975. It is one of the very first “libelli<\/strong>“, a “small book” generally containing episodes from the life of a Saint<\/strong>, in a book form that was particularly popular during the Ottonian period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lives of Saint Kilian and Saint Margaret<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This beautiful illuminated book recounts the biography of two\u00a0holy characters<\/strong>, whose deeds are illustrated in the manuscript by means of extremely detailed depictions<\/a><\/strong>. The first text, the\u00a0Vita Kiliani\u00a0<\/strong>proper, describes the life of\u00a0Saint Kilian<\/strong>, the Irish missionary bishop who converted the populace of Franconia to\u00a0Christianity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
